It’s been years since I’ve been here. Glad I remembered it to stop in for lunch. $10 is a fantastic deal for a lunch special of Greek salad and gyro sandwich. Just as tasty as I remembered it. Looks recently renovated. Bright and inviting. Friendly staff used to new diners as well as regulars. Looks like a solid crowd of folks who still frequent this nice little eatery.
Walking into another one of San Antonios hole in the walls wand walking out wiith a pleasant surprise! The pricing and food quality are reminiscent of pre-inflation nostalgia. The staff was very friendly and professional. I ordered the "Meatball and Gyro" with a salad. I must say what ever dressing they use for that salad is delicious! I couldnt get enough. The bread used for the gyro was soft and fluffy, and the meatballs made out of lamb and beef were very tasty. The only con I see from Kostas Greek Food is the dinning area, its quite lack luster but during my dine in meal there were atleast 6 people coming in for their carry out orders and im constantly hearing cooking in the kitchen.
This place has great food and exceptional customer service. The lady who took my order today was very sweet and did a great job at informing me about their specials. I'll definitely come back again.
Unexpected! I will return. Ordered the gyro plate to go. It was tasty and the price was right. For parents, Kostas is kid friendly because it was a casual environment, not too quiet or loud. Friendly service. Wide aisles between the tables with space to navigate your stroller. Regular low tables for kids to pull up, or a bar height counter to wait for a quick to go order. Kids plate. AND there were no TV screens! Which is a major plus if you lunch with distracted eaters. This gets a star and is going on my list of restaurants free of screens.
There’s more to this place than just good food. It feels healthy, hand picked, made with fresh ingredients and good dose of the owner’s love that goes into creating a great experience. I stopped here as an emergency last minute stop and will come back every time I’m nearby.
Favorite Greek restaurant in the city. Always fresh ingredients, amazing fries, and good prices. I especially like the beef, which tends to be an afterthought at other Greek restaurants. Employees are always friendly, and I appreciate the positive atmosphere.
OMG! Been coming here for a long time and food is still so good! Delicious! Never a let down , the waitress Ms. Garza is oh so sweet and friendly...she focuses on what u want to order, that says alot about this restaurant and they are adding other foods to the menu like the lamb kabob, tried it today and its to die for tomatoes, peppers, onions , and some delicious mushrooms...thank u guys for serving great food...
Absolutely delicious! We came at noon on a Saturday. No wait. Our Order Taker/Waitress was thrilled to see us, explained the Menu & the Specials and offered us a free slice of Baklava as first time guests. Having read about the Hummus, we had to try it. Smooth, garlicky and seasoned to perfection. Then came the Gyro Specials that included either seasoned fries or a salad (with their amazing homemade dressing) and a drink, for under $10! 3 of us got the basic Gyro and one had the Meatball Gyro, which included traditional gyro meat and meatballs, all with tomatoes, lettuce, onion and homemade Tzatziki Sauce. Fabulous! We saved some room for the Baklava and so glad we did. It was amazing! First time will not be our last! A must try if you’re in the area and worthy of the drive if you aren’t!
